Lilz: Where are you from? Where did you get the name Spark Dawg?
SparkDawg: I'm from TX...I use to make & sell gold grills when I was younger so everyone started callin me "Sparky"...After a while, I decided to change the name to "SparkDawg" once my rap career started to take off.
Lilz: How long have you been rapping? How old were you when you started? What made you start rapping?
SparkDawg: I feel like I've been rappin all my life but I honestly think I wrote my 1st rap in the 4th grade. I knew older dudes from the hood that inspired me to try it & I fel in love w/music ever since.
Lilz: How do you feel about the music out today?
SparkDawg: As far as radio is concerned, I feel that majority of today's music on lacks "lyricism"...But artists like Drake are startin to bring lyricism back in my opinion.
Lilz: Who have you worked with? Who do you want to work with that you haven't already?
SparkDawg: The 2 biggest names I've worked w/are Scarface & DJ Clue but If you have a copy of my last mixtape titled "@SparkDawgMusic: Follow The Future Of TX Rap," you'll notice that I've collabed w/big name artists like Wayne, Gudda Gudda (Young Money), Short Dawg (Young Money), Crooked I (Slaughterhouse), Joell Ortiz(Slaughterhouse), Wiz Khalifa, G.Malone, Big Sean (Kanye West's new artist) , Paul Wall & many more...I'd love to work w/Bun B, Slim Thug & Nipsey Hustle in the near future.
Lilz: Who are your influences in music? Who were you inspired by?
SparkDawg: I'm influenced by GOOD MUSIC in general, not any specific artist, but just GOOD MUSIC....I must admit though, when I was younger, I grew up listening to alotta Eastcoast rap like Jay Z, Memphis Bllek, Camron, Ja Rule & DMX.
Lilz: Are you singed or independent?
SparkDawg: Even though I'm apart of a rap group called GREENCITY that the legendary Scarface singed to a 1 album deal via Fontana/Universal, I'm still an UNSIGNED artist when it comes to my solo career.
Lilz: Who is your favorite artist and why?
SparkDawg: My 3 favorite artists are Ludacris (because of his versitility), Fabolous (because of his witty lyricism) & Bun B(because of his longevity, consistancy, & ability to hold his own no matter what artist he's on a track w/regardless of his age). I think Drake is definately a breath of fresh air aswell.
Lilz: Where do you see yourself in 1Oyrs?
SparkDawg: In 10 years I defiantely wanna have a few platinum plaques under my belt & I wanna be known as 1 of the illest to ever do it.
Lilz: What kind of advice would you give artists that want to be in the music game?
SparkDawg: Keep GOD 1st, perfect ya craft & dont ever burn any bridges because the game is run by relationships.
Lilz: How would you describe your music, style & how would you describe yourself as an artist?
SparkDawg: If you put my 3 favorite artists together in 1 body (Ludacris, Fabolous, Bun B), they'd equal SPARK aka SPARKDAWG.
