Interview w/ Dijae Da Hood Diva..

Lilz: Those who are not familiar with you, tell them who you are, where you are from & what you do?

Dijae: I go by the name of Dijae. I'm a 23 year old aspiring rapper born and raised in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, New York.

Lilz: How old were you when you first started rapping? & Why?

Dijae: At the age of 20, I participated in a rap contest with my family and discovered that I have the gift of writing and rapping. Since then I continued to pursue the art of rap and the freedom of expression that it enables me to have.

Lilz: How do you feel about the music out today? & About the female rap artists out today?

Dijae: I believe everyone has their own style of rapping, though they might have similarities, it’s their own style. The female rap artists out today are good because they each have their own audience. The only thing that I would like to see more with female rap artists is unity.

Lilz: How did you get the name Dijae DaHoodDiva

Dijae: The name Dijae is the combination of my nickname Diamond and my real name. The Di from Diamond and Ja from Jazmin and I added an E to make it pop! Da Hood Diva is a movement between me and my close girl friends.

Lilz: What do you have planned for 2010?

Dijae: I plan on consistently releasing new music and doing more shows. This year is all about coming out with some good music for my fans and growing as an artist. I can only get better!

Lilz: Where do you see yourself in 10yrs?

Dijae: In 10 years, I see myself as one of the leading females in the rap industry. I also plan to have my own business. I’m not sure what type of business it will be as of yet, but I know I'll be the boss (cutting the check). 

Lilz: Who have you worked with? & who would you like to work with?

Dijae: I'm still getting my feet wet in this rap game, so I don’t have a bunch a people that I’ve worked with right now. I promise that when you check back with me at this same time next year, I will have a nice run down for you! In regards to artists that I would like to work with in this industry, there are so many. I hope to work with some of the best in the game such as Fabolous, Maino, Jay-z, Jeezy, T.I , Lil Wayne and many others.


Lilz: Who is your favorite artist?

Dijae: It's hard to just pick one because I hear different things that I like in each of them. I can't just choose one; I actually have a couple that can fill that spot.

Lilz: Who are some of your influences in music?

Dijae: All of the female rappers that came before me that paved the way and made it possible for me to do what I'm doing.


Lilz: How would you describe your music and yourself as an artist?

Dijae: My music is a combination of things that I've experienced, witnessed and about people that I know that have lived certain situations. As an artist, I'm driven, edgy and sexy. I am a “Hood Diva”!
