Exclusive interview w/ Top Chef Stephen Robinson..


1. How was it being in the military?

Military life is great. I love it, they take good care of you. You travel alot

i mean im 23 and seen more countries then most people will ever see in there

life time.. and its all paid for and free... lol.

2. Did you find the passion to be a chef when you were in the military?

Yes. I originally joined the military to be military intelligence. But my mother

is not a citizen of the united states, so I failed the security clearance while I was in boot

camp so they made me change my job, I told them heck no if I couldnt do military intelligence

kick me out the military... but it was too late... I think they knew I couldnt do that job but wanted

to tell me that to get me in the military then once im in boot camp be like bam now we got your

ass and your stuck... But im glad it happen because my I love my career field as a chef.

3. Where do you see yourself in 10yrs?

10 years... hmmm I see myself, with my own restaurant. name Prestige, serving global international food. A little bit of everything as in cuisine from french to italian to indian new american etc.. and if not there I will definitley be on the Presidential Food Service Team..

as a private chef on the white house staff.

4. Have you ever thought about documenting (via recording it or writing your recipies out) any of your dishes?

hmmm... no i haven't but thanks for putting that idea in my head... I should do like a cookbook or

something huh. sounds good to me.

5. If you were preparing dinner for a date what two meals would you prepare?

Meal 1 Atlantic Salmon Top Crusted with Served on a bed of Gnocchi in red wine sauce, and kale

Meal 2 Pan-seared pork tenderloin with honey braised endive, cardamon poached pear, butternut squash puree and pistachios

6. How long have you been cooking? 6

years professionally... but all my life. started off cooking hispanic dishes because my mother

and stepfather are hispanic.. I know I dont look it. but I cooked things like arouse compoyo

7. Is there any other talents that you have that you want to get out to the public?

I'm a rapper... lol I was heavy into making music a few years back... I got a few tracks laying

around if anyone wants to check out my music.

8. Would you ever consider being in the music side?

Again hmmm... nah, I think its fun being in the studio, messing up telling them to run it back lol....

just the feel of making great music, doing ad-libs, doubling up your voice etc.. all of it is fun.. but not as fun as cooking to me, but i will do that in my spare time... my ultimate dream is being a well known chef, for the good food i produce. But if i couldnt cook no more for some reason definitely.

9. What's the most creative meal you done? signature recipe..

Seared Ostrich Fillet with Heirloom Tomato Risotto with Abalone Sauce and Grilled Peaches..

Yeah creative right cause who eats Ostrich.... but it turned out amazing.

10. Being in the military; how has it changed you as a person?

Made me grow up faster... take responsibility for my actions and just made me a better person, a humble person. I recommend the military for anyone.. But quote do your 3 or 4 years then get out if you dont like it but you will get alot accomplished, in them 3 or 4 years then most..
