Interview w/ Jimmy Free..

Lilz: How old were you when you first got interested in rapping/ freestlying?

Jimmy Free: I was probably about 12 or 13 when i first started rappin. But i didn't start taking it seriously till i was about 15, from then i started crafting my skill. I would say by the age of 20 i was real nice. I'm 27 now.

Lilz: Where did the name Jimmy Free come from?

Jimmy Free: I had a hundred different name's growin up as a kid rappin but i guess Jimmy Free was the name that finally stuck with everyone and they kept calling me that ever since. It kinda started from a joke that i had made up with a few friends like yo call me Jimmy "hat" Free because i never liked the way condoms felt. It's kinda messed up but that's how i got that name! true story.

Lilz: Who influenced you in the music industry?

Jimmy Free: Well i never just had one influence but i would have to say rappers like Cam'ron, DJ Paul of three six mafia, Twiztid, Esham, Insane Clown Posse, Nas and maybe some Eminem.

Lilz: Who are some of the artists you would like to work with in the near future?

Jimmy Free: DJ Paul and Cam'ron i would like to work with the most. I would drop a whole album with them as the only 2 features on the cd besides my camp. (ILL CRU Entertainment)

Lilz: So, I hear you are or were affiliated with purple city, how is that like? & how did you come across that?

Jimmy Free: I Fuck with Dipset, I'm getting ready to drop this Planet Piff Volume 2 with my homie C-Blunt and It's hosted by Charlie Clips of Cam'rons new group "The UN" and also hosted by Young Hustle of Dipset West! there's alot of good features and production on this tape so make sure you go pick it up and as for Purple City i cant really speak for them. I Was cool with them at one time but No business ever happend.

Lilz: What kind of advice would you give up and coming artists out today to make it in the industry?

Jimmy Free: Create a Buzz, Spit your hardest, and make sure you stand by your words. Treat it like a real job and be serious but no when to have fun and have no limits. Push yourself beyond that.

Lilz: How do you feel about the rap/hiphop out today?

Jimmy Free: There's not enuff Creativity in Rap Music rightnow. Cat's see what's on TV and they just Imitate that.
