Choppin it up with DJ Clint Easthood. .
Lilz: Tell em who you are? What you do & where your from?
DJ Clint Easthood: DJ Clint Easthood AFB/Fly Boy Gang/Coast 2 Coast DJ, rap artist, journalist and publisher of my own blog and online magazine The Music Plug. Originally from Far Rockaway- Queens, New York but now reside in Durham, North Carolina by way of Charlotte, North Carolina. Been in the Durham area for the past 3 years just putting in work as an artist first then transitioned to DJing and publishing my own newspaper.
Lilz: How did you get your DJ name?
DJ Clint Easthood: As an artist I was known as E&J so when i was thinking of a DJ name "DJ E&J" didn't sound right, had too many letters. So just after brainstorming I came to Clint Easthood because of Clint Eastwood being one of my favorite movie directors and actors. So i felt like i was the hood version of him both directing these epic mixtapes and also being an artist and having a role in it.
Lilz: How do you feel about the music out today?
DJ Clint Easthood: The music out today is far better than it was a few years ago because of its diversity. Uptop is getting back to where it should be, the South is still producing hot music and it's alotta noise being made out of the West Coast. You still have your bullshit though but to me the good music is far outweighing the bad.
Lilz: Who have you worked with? Who would you like to work with?
DJ Clint Easthood: I've worked with alot of indie artists in North Carolina like Los Vegas, Chris Sutton, Jacobi, Ease, Felony Fame (Dipset/U.N), Squire out of Atlanta and a few others. I haven't worked with any major artists yet and to be honest I'm not looking to at the moment. If the opportunity came of course I would work with them but it's not something I'm actively pursuing. I look to work with dope independent artists with hot records so I can do my job as a DJ and break their record whether it's through online promotion or club work.
Lilz: What are your plans for 2012?
DJ Clint Easthood: Just to keep building my name , brand and movement. and staying ahead of the competition. I'm currently co-producer and host of Video Boombox a hip hop, fashion and lifestyle video mix show that comes on Time Warner Cable seen in 4 cities throughout North Carolina, so i'll be working with the team (Sound Of The Culture, Hustle Mill, and Four Feather Films) to take that to the next level. And working on doing more live indie music events, ,showcases concerts with my promotions company Jet Swag (jetswagevents.blogspot.com)
Lilz: Where do you see yourself in 10yrs?
DJ Clint Easthood: In a good space within the music industry not just a DJ or an artist but as an innovating entrepreneur.
Lilz: What's the one place in the world you would love to go?
DJ Clint Easthood: This would be a good time for an educated answer but really I just want to go to Amsterdam and we all know why.
Lilz: How would you describe yourself as a person?
DJ Clint Easthood: Cool laid back dude with a crazy work ethic. Very unassuming at first glance you would never guess I've seen what i've seen or been through what i been through.
Lilz: What's the best album ever?
DJ Clint Easthood: The best album ever personally for me is Nas Illmatic because that album represents what Queens (New York) means to me. Its the hood, its gutter but it also has an educated and artistic side to it that blends beautifully with the hood, and that's what Nas Illmatic is.
Lilz: Any shout outs..
DJ Clint Easthood: Be on the lookout for DJ Clint Easthood, Los Vegas and the whole AFB/FBG/730 Dips movement shouts to Big Dip and Harlem!
Lilz: where can they reach you..
DJ Clint Easthood: @djclinteasthood on twitter. djclinteasthood.tumblr.com.
